Bad Ischl

Bad Ischl – Heart of the Salzkammergut Lakes and Mountains

Spring,Summer & Autumn

Bad Ischl – History and Culture
Bad Ischl is an active town, with festivals and events throughout the year.Explore the town’s links with the Austrian royal family at the Kaiservilla and town museum.Or you can just relax on the esplanade and enjoy some coffee and cake at Zauner’s Konditorei, or while away the hours in the Eurotherme Spa. For those who enjoy music, the summer months provide endless variety with up to 3 concerts a day in the parks and concert halls of the town. The main event throughout the summer is the Lehar Festival which celebrates the life and works of the composer who lived in Bad Ischl. Visit the Lehar Villa where he lived. There are lovely walks and cycle rides in the town and surrounding countryside
Active Holidays
For those who enjoy outdoor activities the area is superb for walking, cycling, water sports, horse riding, fishing, paragliding, sailing and many other sports too numerous to mention! Just ask us about what you want to do.
Places of Interest
If you prefer a more relaxing time you can just savour the beautiful scenery and the Austrian villages. Lake Wolfgang is just 15 minutes away, with the villages of Strobl, St Gilgen and St Wolfgang (of “White Horse Inn” fame) on its shores. You can spend a most enjoyable day sailing between the villages, stopping off at each one to go exploring. Visit the summer tobogan rides at Strobl & Fuschl or take the railway to the top of the Schafberg mountain for great views across the lakes the the Dachstein mountains.

Also nearby is the very picturesque village of Hallstatt, famous for its 7000 year long history of salt mining, and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. Nearby you can visit the salt mines, the Dachstein caves and the Ice cave at Obertraun.

Just that little bit further away, but well worth a visit, is Salzburg. The home of Mozart, the city is still alive with fine music, museums, cathedrals and gardens. You can even take the “Sound of Music” tour to visit the sites used in the film.

The region has a rich culture, with festivals throughout the year. There is always something to visit, to see, or to do, whatever the season: alpine meadows to walk through in spring; warm lakes in which to swim in summer; golden vistas in autumn.

Eurotherme – Salzkammergut Thermal Spa
For complete luxury ,or to recover hard worked muscles, a visit to the thermal spa at the EuroTherme – Bad Ischl is a must. The spa has pool heated to 33 degrees C, saunas, steam baths, whirlpools and a full range of therapeutic massages and beauty therapies. Why not treat yourself! Eurotherme opens every day from 09:00 – 00:00.
Golf
The Salzkammergut Golf Club is a short distance from our apartment, and visitors are welcome. The 18 hole course set in spectacular scenery, between Bad Ischl and Strobl. The club has a modern clubhouse and golf shop. The Franz Laimer Golf Training Centre is next to the course and is open all year.

For a change of venue, there are also courses at Fuschl, Mondsee (2 courses) and Bad Aussee. All are within about 45 minutes drive of our house.

About Us

Hello I’m Trevor. I moved to Bad Ischl, with my wife Linda, in 2006.

We also offer accommodation at Bad Ischl Central ( Extended Stay and Holiday Apartment) and Haus Strutzenberger (Holiday Apartments)

We love living in Bad Ischl. It has a rich history and great facilities. There’s always so much going on and the added bonus is we are surrounded by stunning countryside.

I am a keen singer and am lucky enough to sing with a couple of local choirs. I enjoy spending time outdoors, walking and cycling in the summer and naturally skiing in winter.

I would love to welcome you to stay at my apartment and maybe introduce you to this area.
